(cerita bahasa jepang) リンゴ の えだ と タンポポ The Apple Branch and Dandelion

のはら も き も はたけ も ぼくじょう も、いちめん に きれいな はな が さいた はる の あるひ、

 　One spring day, when all the fields, trees and pastures were a carpet of flowers in bloom

 　いっぽん の リンゴ の き が じまんげ に いいました。

　An apple tree said boastingly to itself.

 「えっへん。みてみて。ぼくは、こんな に きれい に なったんだよ」

"Yes, look, look. See how beautiful I have become."

 　この リンゴ の き には えだ が いっぽん しか ありません が、かわいらしい バラいろ の つぼみ を たくさん つけて いました。

 　Even though the tree had only one single branch, it was covered with pretty rose colored buds.

 「まあ、きれい！　なんて みごと な リンゴ の えだ なの でしょう」

"Why, how beautiful! What a beautiful apple branch that is."

 　ちょうど そこ へ、おくさま が ばしゃ で とおり かかり ました。

　Said a lady that was passing by in her horse drawn carriage.

 「わたくし、こんなに すばらしい はな を みた こと が ありませんわ」

"I have never seen such wonderful flowers in all my life. "

 　おくさま は リンゴ の えだ を やさしく おる と、たいせつ に おやしき に もってかえりました。

　The lady gently broke off the branch and brought it back to her mansion.

 　はじめて やしき に はいった リンゴ の えだ は、おおきな やしき に びっくり です。

　The apple branch was in awe when it first entered the lady’s mansion.

 「うわ、なんて りっぱな おやしき なんだろう」

"What a fantastic house this is"

 　おくさま は ひろい やしき の なか の いちばん すてきな おへや に はいって いく と、リンゴ の えだ に いいました。

　When the lady entered into the grandest room of the house she spoke to the apple branch.

 「さあ、きょう から ここ が、あなた の おうちよ」

"From today on, this will be your home."

 　おくさま は しんせつ を かためて つくった ような しろい かびん に、リンゴ の えだ を さして くれました。

　The lady then put the branch into a beautiful white vase which looked like it had been made of white snow.

 　リンゴ の えだ は、うれしくて たまりません。

　The apple branch was delighted and couldn’t contain his joy.

 「えへへ。ここ が ぼく の いえ で、この かびん が ぼく の へや だ」

"Ha, ha . This is my new house and this vase is my room."

 　リンゴ の えだ は、まっしろな カーテン の かかっている まど の そと を みました。

　The apple branch then looked out from the window with white curtains.

 「やあ、そと には いろんな はな が さいているな」

"Oh! So many flowers are in bloom.”

 　スミレ、ひなげし、チューリップ、そして おにわ の むこう の のはら には たくさん の タンポポ が さいています。

　Violets, field poppies, tulips and on the other side of the garden towards the pastures there were hundreds of dandelions in bloom.

 「でも、ぼく より きれいな はな は いないや。やっぱり ぼく が、いちばんだ」

"But none are as fine as me. I am the most beautiful."

 　リンゴ の えだ は そう おもう と、ますます うれしく なりました。

　When the apple branch thought this over he became even more delighted with himself.

 　そして、じぶん が えらく なった よう に おもえました。

 「ぼく みたい に だいじ に かざられる はな も あれば、

"I am a important flower decorating with grace.

 　タンポポくん の よう に、だれ にも みむき されない はな も あるんだね。

　But how about the dandelion who never receives a single glance?

 　かわいそうに」

　How sad it is."

 　それ を きいた そら の おひさま が、リンゴ の えだ に いいました。

 「リンゴくん、そんな こと は ないよ。タンポポ も すてき だよ」

 「なら、よく みてて ごらん」

 　まもなく ちいさな こどもたち が のはら に やってきて、

 と、たのしそう に タンポポ で くびわ や うでわ を つくりました。

 　それから、まっしろ に わたげ を つけた タンポポ を みつける と、

　When they found dandelions with their floss on them.

 「あっ、いいもの を みつけた。いい？　よく みててね。いくよー！　フーーッ」

"Wow, I found a lovely one. Ready? Look now, here I go… fooooo….."

 と、おおきく いき を ふいて あそびました。

　Blew the breath of the child.

 　それ を みた リンゴ の えだ は、こどもたち と なかよく あそぶ タンポポ が すこし うらやましく なりました が、

 　でも おひさま に いいました。

 　そのとき、おくさま が ともだち と へや に はいって きました。

　At that moment the lady of the house and her friend entered the room.

 「ゆっくり、ゆっくり。そうっとね」

"Slowly -- slowly . Be careful with it,"

 　おくさま は、とても だいじそう に なにか を もってきました。

　The lady of the house was carrying something very carefully in her hands.

 　そして き を つけながら リンゴ の えだ の となり に さした のは、

　Cautiously the lady put it in the vase next to the apple branch.

 　なんと タンポポ の わたげ の はなたば だった の です。

　Why, it was a bunch of dandelions with their floss.

 「この わたげ、なんて ふしぎ で、なんて すてき なの でしょう。

"How wonderful and beautiful these flowers with their floss are !

 　リンゴ の はな とは ちがう けれど、どっち も とって も きれい だわ」

　They are so different from the apple branch's flowers, but both are equally beautiful"

 　おくさま の ことば に、おひさま は にっこり わらって いいました。

　The sun smiled at the lady’s words and then spoke out to the branch.

 「ほらね。リンゴくん、わかった だろう？」

"There you go Mr. apple branch, now do you understand?"

 「・・・うん」

"oh!.....Yes"

 　リンゴ の えだ は はずかしそう に、ちいさく うなずきました。

　The apple branch nodded in agreement a little shamefully.
